the good, the bad, & the very ugly: JOURNOHEAD

An interesting place to find news and our commentary on it. Journalism is an awesome field, but a lot of people ruin it. So this is us saying STFU.

  • Op-ed that was written by a Stanford Senior, he doesn't like the new Rape laws that are imposed on campuses nationwide. He uses the word "Liberal" like he's got tourettes. Mentions radical feminists and ruinous legal ethics. Then goes on to talk about how college is a time where free sex comes with alcohol (excuses). Then, he talks about how statistics are over-embellished and wrong, and basically rape doesn't happen as frequently as it does. & That women are NOT victims/minorities. Where was the compassion for women who previously and/or are suffering because of rape, because they are too afraid to tell and be ostracized in their communities and colleges? Nor, were there statistics to back up his facts and/or the stats of how many actual rapes occur on college campuses. So, Peter Berkowitz, you may use fancy sentence structure and get published in the Wall Street Journal, but we women KNOW a vile human when we see one. Rape happens and it's real, stop candy coating it. Every 21 hours a women is raped on a college campus and 90% of rapes occur while under the influence of alcohol. Instead of finding the wrong in the details and protocols of an after rape situation, maybe you should find the solution/problem to the moments leading up to the rape. & understand the word "NO."
