An interesting place to find news and our commentary on it. Journalism is an awesome field, but a lot of people ruin it. So this is us saying STFU.
CNN FIRES A LOT OF PEOPLE, AND THEN GIVES THE WORST EXCUSE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.
Ok, so people are getting fired from CNN, why, well because nobody watches, and why would they?
But all jokes in the cookie jar aside, CNN gave the absolute worst excuse.
“We looked at production demands, down time, and international deployments. We looked at the impact of user-generated content and social media, CNN iReporters and of course our affiliate contributions in breaking news. Consumer and pro-sumer technologies are simpler and more accessible. Small cameras are now high broadcast quality. More of this technology is in the hands of more people. After completing this analysis, CNN determined that some photojournalists will be departing the company.”
Basically they surmised that, well everyone has a camera phone, so, we don’t need you anymore.
And, we don’t feel like paying you, when we can get Joe Schmo to give us the content for free, we just put his name somewhere, and yup, oh well.
Oh boy.
